Water processing and protecting nearby waters

We use and serve the freshest pure water in Calliola that comes from our own bored well. We have also invested in our own ecological waste-water filtration system designed by experts. Our water purification system is regularly checked by local officials and by our own service technician. In addition to protecting the nearby waters by purifying waste-water.

Ecological recycling

• In 2015 we switched to a recycling system called MOLOK that significantly reduced the need for transportation of waste.
• We compost all biological waste.
• We use environmentally friendly and recyclable packaging materials. We do not use disposable or plastic dishes in our functions.
• We use environmentally friendly cleaning solutions in our cleaning and maintenance processes.
• We have switched from paper towels to washable towels.
• We take part in responsible disposal and recycling waste (plastic bottles, glass bottles, broken glass, fluorescents and used lamps and batteries).

Energy saving measures

• We utilize air-source heat pumps in heating and air-conditioning. The air-source heat pumps are maintained regularly to guarantee efficiency.
• We use blinds to minimize the effects of sunlight in our conference rooms.
• We constantly monitor the indoor temperature, and adjust it according to the weather and the use of a given room.
• We renovate and insulate the outdoor walls in old buildings when the facades are renovated.
• We change window glazing to heated glazing whenever a building is renovated.
• We clean and maintain our refrigerators and freezers regularly.

Kitchen

• We buy the ingredients our restaurant uses from local producers and favor local and organic produce.
• We minimize and recycle the bio-waste in our kitchen by composting it and feeding it to wild game.
• We use the berries, mushrooms and herbs from own grounds depending on the season.

Environmentally oriented products

• Whenever possible, we use environmentally friendly production materials. We use colors like red ochre, and prefer natural solutions for coating and painting outdoor surfaces.
  
• We prefer natural materials and recyclable materials in decoration.

We follow the principles of sustainable leadership

Social responsibility shows in our workplace policy and safety, as well as our standard operating procedures. Our staff has taken part in the sustainable travel focused `Green Start´ trainings, as well as first aid trainings. Our grounds have an emergency plan made with, and approved by officials.
